Small problem with members list

Postby Chal on 07 Oct 2009 1:35 am

I was just messing around with the members list for a bit when I noticed something interesting. Sort the users by posts, then go to the last page. Notice anyone missing? (Currently this is page 48, as more people join, this will keep moving. To see the people with the most posts, you need to modify the URL from
memberlist.php?sk=d&sd=a&mode=&start=1175
to
memberlist.php?sk=d&sd=a&mode=&start=1200
this takes you to page 49 of 48 which has most of the regular posters here on it.

You can also do this with sorting by name or join date, etc.

Since it's currently report 1190 users, having 1175 being the start point for the last page (which contains 25 people) makes sense, so I'm guessing that there's some miscounting going on with users.

That's odd. When you search for users by post count and choose the "Descending" instead of "Ascending" option, you get the complete set.

This could have something to do with the fact that I've been screening all new registrations. I delete the applications from rejects (who pick names that indicate they're obviously or probably spammers), but I don't manually delete the users until I have time to go through the inactives and clean up the trash. So at any given time, there might be 50-100 users who are registered but inactive and unable to post.

Maybe that's messing with the memberlist, maybe not. I don't know a quick/obvious way to fix the problem, and I don't think it's a huge deal, so I say we just let this slide? Unless there are major objections? We don't exactly have a resident expert on all of phpBB's little quirks, and I haven't found their forums/website to be remotely helpful when dealing with other obscure problems.
